Qualified psychologists and counsellors who understand disability, not just mental health in the abstract. Evidence-based support for anxiety, depression, trauma and the things that are harder to name.
Counselling and psychology usually sit under Capacity Building in your plan, as improved daily living or improved relationships. It is not the same funding as your support workers, and plenty of people do not realise they already have it.
What makes disability-specific counselling different is context. You should not have to spend the first four sessions explaining what your disability is, or defending why something is hard. Our clinicians work in this sector every day.
Registered psychologists and qualified counsellors with genuine disability experience, several with international training and clinical backgrounds.
Evidence-based practice for stress, anxiety and depression, with practical strategies rather than theory.
Including experience with dual diagnosis, alcohol and other drugs, and complex presentations.
Clinicians trained across Australia, South America and Europe, bringing different perspectives to the same work.
Usually yes, under Capacity Building, as improved daily living or improved relationships. It is separate funding from your core supports. If you are not sure whether it is in your plan, send it to us and we will check.
A psychologist is registered with AHPRA and can provide formal psychological assessment and evidence-based therapies. A counsellor provides talk-based therapeutic support without the assessment scope. Both are useful, and which suits you depends on what you are working through.
Yes. Some people prefer in person at our Ormond office, others find telehealth easier, particularly if getting out is part of what is hard. Either is fine and you can switch.
Not for NDIS-funded counselling. A mental health care plan relates to Medicare-subsidised sessions, which is a separate pathway. If you have both, we can talk through which to use.
There is no set number. Some people come for a short block around something specific, others continue longer term. We review it with you as you go rather than deciding upfront.
Counselling and psychology sessions run from our Ormond base, with telehealth available for anyone across Greater Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula who'd rather not travel.
A few of the people we've supported, in their own words.
Greater consistency, greater calm.
