You are never locked in. If your current provider is not the right fit, you can change, and it is more straightforward than most people expect.
Choice and control is the whole point of the NDIS. You are allowed to change providers whenever you like, for any reason, and you do not need to justify it to anyone.
A good provider will make leaving easy, because they know a forced relationship is not a good one. If yours makes it hard, that tells you something.
Before you switch, have a look at your current service agreement. It will usually spell out a notice period, often two to four weeks, that you need to give before ending the arrangement.
Giving proper notice keeps things clean and means your supports do not get interrupted while you move across.
First, line up your new provider so there is no gap in support. Then give your current provider written notice, an email is fine, stating the date you want to finish.
Your new provider sets up a fresh service agreement with you, and if you have a support coordinator, they can handle most of this handover on your behalf. Then you are done.
Not if you line up the new provider before you give notice. A good provider will overlap the handover so your supports keep running the whole time.
No. You do not have to explain or justify your decision to anyone. Choice and control is your right under the NDIS.
You can still leave, you just give the notice your agreement asks for. If anything is unclear, we are happy to help you read it.
No jargon, no pressure. We will talk it through in plain words and point you the right way, even if that is not us.
