HOUSING SUPPORT

Supported Independent Living (SIL) with YAY Today

At YAY Today, our team believes home is more than a place to live — it’s where you feel safe, supported, and free to be yourself.
That’s why we offer Supported Independent Living (SIL): daily NDIS House Support that help you live more independently in your own home.

What is SIL?

SIL is the help you receive at home from our skilled support team.
It can include:
  • Personal care (showering, dressing, medication support)
  • Help with cooking, cleaning, and daily routines
  • Encouragement with hobbies, study, or work goals
  • Social and community participation
  • Building independence skills for everyday life

Remember: SIL is the support, not the house.

Supporting you every step of the way

Supported Independent Living (SIL) offers crucial assistance to individuals with disabilities, helping them live independently in their own home or shared accommodation. In particular, SIL support can include help with personal care, as well as household tasks such as meal preparation. In addition, it may involve supervision to ensure safety and overall well-being.

In a nutshell, the goal of SIL is to help participants develop essential life skills and gain greater independence. As a result, we tailor support to each individual’s needs and circumstances. Depending on your situation, this support may be shared with others in the home or, alternatively, provided one-on-one.

Furthermore, as registered NDIS SIL assessors, our team is available to come to you for an assessment to determine your eligibility for SIL funding and ensure the best support plan for your needs.

Individual Living Options (ILO) offer flexible support and funding arrangements for NDIS participants to help them live in a way that suits their preferences. In particular, ILO funding allows participants to choose to live in shared housing, with a friend, or in a host family setting.

At YAY Today, we provide ILO support by helping design suitable housing solutions. In addition, we offer the assistance needed for participants to live more independently. To do this, we consider personal preferences, strengths, challenges, and available support networks. As a result, we create a tailored plan that promotes greater independence.

Furthermore, the NDIS provides ILO funding in two phases:

Exploration and Design: During this phase, we work closely with participants to explore different living arrangements and understand their individual needs and preferences.

Supports: In the next phase, we put the right supports in place to help participants live the way they want and achieve their personal goals.

Finally, as registered NDIS ILO assessors, our team can visit you to conduct an assessment. This way, we can determine your eligibility for ILO funding and ensure the most suitable plan for your living arrangements.

Short-term and medium-term accommodation provide crucial support for individuals with significant functional impairments or complex needs. In particular, this type of accommodation suits people who need temporary housing while waiting for more permanent living arrangements.

However, we understand that navigating the NDIA’s Housing Support information can feel overwhelming due to its complexity. For this reason, our team brings strong knowledge of NDIS Housing Support guidelines and will guide you through the process. In addition, we help clarify the requirements and support you through the assessment process. As a result, we ensure your needs are clearly understood and appropriately addressed.

If you require housing support, whether for SIL, ILO, or STA/MTA accommodation, we encourage you to contact our team. From there, we can arrange an assessment tailored to your specific situation.
